Exams are held exclusively after the end of the winter and spring semesters for courses taught during those semesters, respectively. Students are entitled to be examined in courses from both semesters before the start of the winter semester (repeat examination period). Students who have completed their regular studies, which is equal to the minimum number of semesters required for the award of the degree, according to the study program, may be examined in the winter and spring semester examination periods of each academic year in all courses they owe, regardless of whether these are taught in the winter or spring semester, following a decision by the Department Assembly.

The exam schedule for the courses is drawn up, under the responsibility of the Department Chair, within a reasonable time before the start of the examination periods and is announced by the Department Secretariat on the Department website and sent by email by the Department Secretariat to the students of the PPE. The examination schedule includes the distribution of examination hours for the courses in the curriculum over the five working days of the week, the instructors responsible, and the rooms where the examinations will be held. The Chair of the Department shall ensure in a timely manner the appointment of invigilators, the suitability of the premises, the availability of materials and equipment, and, in general, the necessary conditions for the integrity of the examinations. All members of the academic staff, EEP, EDI, PD407/80 of the Department, as well as doctoral candidates, may be appointed as examiners.

The examination topics for each course are determined by the respective instructor. The duration of the written examination may not exceed three (3) hours under any circumstances. The examinations for each course are conducted under the responsibility of the course instructor, who is present throughout the duration of the examination.
examination.

For the development of the topics, the students being examined are provided with special forms (stickers, questionnaires, etc.) stamped with the Department's seal, under the responsibility of the invigilators in each examination room. During the examination, the invigilators check the identity of the examinees. Students who are found to be copying from books or notes or from another student's written work, or using electronic devices (such as mobile phones, computers, etc.) during the examination, or consult with other students, or obstruct the smooth conduct of the examination, shall be subject to penalties as provided by law and the Department Assembly. In addition, a plagiarism detection procedure using specialized software (Turnitin) is applied to written assignments. Any findings will result in appropriate severe penalties. The University of the Peloponnese Plagiarism Policy (https://www.uop.gr/ekpaideusi/kanonismos-kata-tis-logoklopis) applies and is enforced. At the end of the course examination, the instructor submits to the Department Secretariat the attendance sheet signed by the students who participated in the course examination.

The examiner posts each student's grade on the electronic classroom information system. They also post the date and time when students can see their written exams. An email is sent to the students who have registered for the course through the same system. The examiner submits the grade list electronically to the Secretariat's information system.

The submission of printed grade sheets to the Secretariat is not permitted, except in the event of a failure of the information system.

The written papers are kept by the examiner for one year, either in physical form or electronically, after which they are destroyed. To facilitate the examination process, the examiner keeps a separate file containing the questions set in each examination period.

Possibility of improving grades

According to decision no. 7/6/24-05-2021 of the Provisional Assembly of the Department,  students who wish to improve their grades may apply to the Department Secretariat to request a re-evaluation of three (3) courses from the first three spring semesters and three (3) courses from the first three winter semesters. Re-evaluation may be performed once for each course, and the second grade will be retained.
