Doctoral studies at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the University of the Peloponnese are organized and operated in accordance with the provisions of Law 4485/2017, as amended and in force, and the general institutional framework, as applicable at any given time. They aim to promote original scientific research and lead to the award of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.), which certifies the completion of original scientific research and the substantial contribution of its holder its holder to the advancement of knowledge in the Health Sciences and, in particular, in the Science of Nutrition and Dietetics, but also in cognitive subjects covering broader scientific fields of the curriculum.

According to Law 4957/2022, anyone who holds a master's degree awarded by a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Greece or abroad, or is a graduate of an undergraduate program at a HEI in Greece or abroad, the successful completion of which leads to the award of a single and uninterrupted degree in accordance with Article 78. Any interested party who meets the requirements of the Doctoral Studies Regulations may submit an application and a complete file with supporting documents during the academic year, specifically during the months of September and February, to the Department Secretariat, and their application will be evaluated at the October and March meetings respectively.  The selection of doctoral candidates is made by decision of the Department Assembly.
